Asryn Kennels was founded in 2003 to allow Karen and her then partner to expand their passion for showing & breeding Siberians & Griffons. Asryn quickly expanded to also offer commercial dog boarding and professional dog obedience and behavioural training.
Karen Bryant had been involved in the training of dogs for obedience & agility since her early teenage years, before being captivated by the Siberian Husky & becoming involved in the world of dog showing. Karen has now been involved with Siberian Huskies for many years and is currently the President of the Siberian Husky & Alaskan Malamute Club of South Australia. More recently Asryn has also become involved with Working Kelpies.
Full details on all of our activities, and in particular our breeding & showing are available on this website. Details on our boarding and training can be found under the Services tab above.
SIBERIANS - We embarked upon Asryn Siberians after a number of years researching the breed & handling for other people so that we could decide exactly which lines upon which we wanted to build our own breeding program. We could not have wished for a more successful start. Our foundation is based upon Ch. Eskaluet Elle McPherson, an all Breeds Best In Show, multiple Best In Group, and numerous Best of Breed winner. Elle won Best In Show 3rd place & Best In Show 2nd place on consecutive days at the prestigious Pedigree Autumn International Shows in March 2006 against strong national competition under a panel of international judges.
Elle's daughter Gr. Ch. Asryn Romany Gold capped off a brilliant start for our first homebred Siberians winning Best In Specialty Show in Melbourne at the end of 2007. Previously, in 2005, Gypsy had brought about another very special win for us winning Best Puppy In Show at the Royal Melbourne Show, following up a Puppy In Show award at the NSW Siberian Husky Club Specialty earlier in that year. Gypsy is now a multi Best In Show winner and was Utility Dog of the Year for South Australia in 2011. At only 12 months of age Ch. Asryn Dream Quest (Seeker) won Best of Breed / Runner Up In Show at the June 2007 Siberian Husky and Alaskan Malamute Club of SA Specialty Championship Show.
GRIFFONS - For a number of years Asryn kennels bred and showed Griffons under the prefix Shigriff, in partnership with Michele Hupfeld and Caroline Elder of Armidale NSW. Shigriff Griffons bred numerous Australian Champions as well as winning multiple Best In Show's at the Griffon Bruxellois of Victorian Club (until 2009 the only breed club in Australia) annual championship show. Our owned or bred Griffons were consistent Best of Breed winners at Royal Shows all over Australia for many years. In Many cases we took both challenges & puppy of breed at individual Royal shows.
Our Griffons have been awarded group placings at Adelaide & Melbourne Royal shows under international judges. Shigriff is now solely run by Michele Hupfeld and Caroline Elder.
